A Small Gold Pair-Cased Verge pocket Watch
Case: The plain gold inner case, numbered 4540 and with maker's mark W.S (William Sherwood) and winding hole. The gold pendant possibly replaced. The outer case plain gold, hinged bezel, un-numbered and possibly of a later date.
Dial: A superb two-piece champleve gold dial, the chased and matted centre with a cartouche signed Tompion Graham with cornucopia and floral garland surround. Below a similar cartouche marked London. The chapter-ring with waxed Roman numerls, lozenge half-hour marks and the outer minute ring with Arabic numerals.
Movement: Gilded brass plates signed Thos. Tompion Geo. Graham 4540. Eqyptian pillars, fusee movement with open footed balance cock and floral engraved decoration, a masked face and scrolling foliage.
